INTRODUCE YOURSELF - INTERVIEW TIPS

Maxwell applied for this job over a month ago and had even lost hope of getting it and suddenly, out of nowhere, he received a message. Maxwell is to come for an interview in three days time. He spent hours each day preparing and finally the "day of judgement" came. At the interview room the first question Maxwell was asked was to introduce himself to the panel.

A little shaky but he gathered confidence and started, "I would like to express my gratitude for this opportunity. I am Maxwell and I posses several outstanding skills and qualities, including leadership, critical thinking, excellent communication abilities, and a strong work ethic. These skills enable me to effectively lead teams and tackle complex challenges.

I have significant experience in the field of project management, having led multiple successful projects in the past. I hold a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, and have completed several professional development courses in project management.

One of my most notable achievements was leading a team that successfully delivered a complex project ahead of schedule and under budget, resulting in significant cost savings for my previous company.

I am committed to achieving the highest standards of excellence in my work, and continuously improve my skills to meet your organization's needs If hired. I would add value to your organization by utilizing my skills and experience to lead projects to successful completion, while fostering a collaborative and positive team environment."

This introduction got the panel looking at each other and nodding their heads. Maxwell captured everything the panel needed to hear to increase his chances in his introduction. The best introduction statement in an interview must capture some five (5) main points. These five (5) points if you are able to capture them guarantees your success. Let us break down Maxwell's introduction to identify the five (5) points.

Maxwell started his introduction by thanking the panel for the opportunity they have given him. It may not seem necessary to you but it is very important. This tells the panel that you are a well-mannered individual and respectful. It does not matter how experienced or skilled you are, if you are not well-mannered and respectful no employer would be happy to employ and work with you. Always begin by thanking them and showing appreciation for the opportunity. I call this the "silent charm".

The next thing Maxwell talked about was his skills and qualities. He mentioned four skills and qualities he possess. These skills and qualities should be related to the job description. Do not forget, You are selling yourself as the ideal candidate for the job and the skills you possess that are related to the job really matters.

The next thing was Maxwell's experience and qualification. You need to show them you are qualified and you have the experience to back it up. Talk about your qualification, including any short courses you have done that relates to the job.

The fourth thing captured in the introduction was Maxwell's Achievement. This achievement can be from your personal or professional life. You are showing them that you are an achiever, someone who is able to reach his targets or goals. Be specific and you can include numbers too.

The last and final point is to talk about the value you would add to their company and the type of person you are. This is very essential because the main reason the company is hiring is to get someone who can add some kind value to them. Watch the job description very well at this point because the kind of value the company needs is captured there. Mention the type of person you are and the value you will add to the company if you are hired.

Never forget these points when you are preparing for your interview. Like Maxwell, get the panel to nod their heads in agreement.

Thank you for time. See you again!!!
